The 2007 legislative session completed Florida’s implementation of HR -218. Florida now has an authorized process that allows qualified retired law enforcement officers who reside in Florida to satisfy the firearms proficiency portion of the federal law.

The FDLE has authorized the CJSTC to issue a State certification card that indicates the bearer has demonstrated proficiency on the State’s course of fire within the past 12 months.

The State has not made the proficiency cards available as of this date. The state plans to make the cards available to CJSTC firearm’s instructors in the near future. At such time Strategic Training Solutions will begin qualifying retirees who desire to demonstrate compliance under the federal law. Please watch our website for the latest legal updates!
